Pregnancy Information
One of the potential consequences of sexual activity is pregnancy. As more teens choose abstinence, rates of teen pregnancy continue to decline. However there are still nearly 2,000 pregnancies per day among unmarried teens. A little more than a third of these, or 750 per day, occur among teens under the age of 18. (1) Children born to unmarried teenage mothers face many hurdles in seeking to keep up with their peers in virtually every area of life.
Pregnancy Symptoms
A missed period is the most common sign but it doesn't necessarily mean you are pregnant. Some common pregnancy symptoms are:
- Tender or swollen breasts
- Frequent urination
- Nausea or vomiting
- Tiredness
- Lightheadedness or fainting
- Backaches or cramping
- Mood swings
- Food cravings or aversions
- Darkening of the nipples
If you think you might be pregnant, The Pregnancy Resource Center can provide you with a free laboratory rated pregnancy test. You will have the results during your appointment.
